Apollo SBI Card SELECT costs ₹1,499 and pays 10 Reward Points per ₹100 at Apollo 24|7 — the highest published rate of any card here. But points redeem for Apollo Health Credits only, and the rate is capped at ₹50,000 of spend a month. Full maths, fees and FAQs.

The Apollo SBI Card SELECT pays 10 Reward Points per ₹100 at Apollo 24|7 and Apollo stores, at Re. 1 a point — a 10% rate, and the highest published rate on any card in this dataset. It costs ₹1,499, reversed at ₹3 lakh of annual spend, and layers on a health check-up, a FITPASS PRO membership and Apollo Circle benefits.

Two things decide whether it works for you, and neither is on SBI's product page. The 10% is capped at ₹50,000 of Apollo spend a statement cycle. And the points can only become Apollo Health Credits — there is no cash, no statement credit, no catalogue.

Eligibility Criteria

SBI Card publishes no age or income threshold. Approval rests on its own assessment. Indian residency and a valid PAN are required. Add-on cards are free.

Health Credits Only — Read This Before Applying

SBI's wording is unambiguous:

You can redeem your Reward Points for Apollo Health Credits only.

There is no cash channel, no statement credit and no catalogue. Conversion runs 1:1 — SBI states "1 Reward Point = 1 Health Credits = Re. 1" — and is possible only through the SBI Card mobile app and website.

So the Re. 1 valuation holds only for a cardholder who will spend the credits at Apollo. If you earn 5,000 points in a month and never buy medicine, run a test or see a doctor at Apollo, they are worth nothing to you. This is the single most important thing about the card and it is one line in SBI's terms.

The standard Apollo SBI Card is more liquid, incidentally: its points redeem instantly at Apollo point-of-sale terminals as well as converting to Health Credits.

The Caps SBI Doesn't Publish

SBI's product page states the rates and stops — it says nothing about caps. The figures below come from SBI's own Apollo SBI Card SELECT FAQ PDF (question 8), an issuer document.

RateHeadlineCap per statement cycleBinds atMax value
**Apollo 24\7 app and stores**10 RP per ₹1005,000 points**₹50,000** of Apollo spend₹5,000
**Dining, movies, entertainment, travel**2 RP per ₹1005,000 points₹2,50,000 of such spend₹5,000
Everything else1 RP per ₹200**None**——

The two caps are separate, not shared, so the accelerated bands can return up to ₹10,000 a cycle between them.

Past either cap the base rate applies — 0.5%, not zero.

The Apollo cap is the one that bites. ₹50,000 of Apollo spend a month is a lot of pharmacy and diagnostics, so most households will not reach it — but a family managing a chronic condition might, and past that point the rate falls from 10% to 0.5%, a twentyfold drop.

The 10% Is Narrower Than the Standard Card's 3X

A subtlety worth catching. The SELECT's 10% fires on Apollo 24|7 and Apollo Pharmacy only. The standard Apollo SBI Card's 3X applies to "all Apollo services" — including Apollo Hospitals and Apollo Diagnostics.

So a large hospital bill earns 3% on the cheaper card and 0.5% on this one, unless it is billed through Apollo 24|7. If hospital and diagnostics spend is your main Apollo exposure, check which entity actually processes the transaction before assuming the SELECT is the better card.

The ₹200 Base Denominator

The base rate is 1 Reward Point per ₹200 while both accelerated bands are per ₹100. That is easy to misread as the same denominator. At Re. 1 a point:

  • Base: 1 point per ₹200 = 0.5%
  • Accelerated: 2 or 10 points per ₹100 = 2% or 10%

The Welcome Package — Layered, and Mostly Unpriced

Four separate things arrive:

  • An Apollo 24|7 e-gift voucher worth ₹1,500, on payment of the joining fee — the fee back in year one
  • Apollo Circle benefits, including up to 25% value back on medicine purchases at Apollo 24|7 and Apollo Pharmacy
  • A one-year FITPASS PRO membership, on payment of the joining fee and a retail transaction
  • A complimentary comprehensive health check-up package, on spending ₹50,000 within 90 days of joining

Only the ₹1,500 voucher is priced by SBI. The Apollo Circle benefit is potentially the largest of the four — "up to 25% value back on medicines" dwarfs the card's own 10% rate — but "up to" is a ceiling, not a rate, and SBI publishes no terms for it on the captured pages. Treat it as a reason to read the Apollo Circle conditions, not as a number.

The Recurring Health Check-Up — Mind the Window

A complimentary comprehensive health check-up package, every year, conditional on spending ₹50,000 within 90 days of each card anniversary.

Note the shape of that condition. It is not ₹50,000 of anniversary-year spend — it is ₹50,000 inside a 90-day window that starts on your card anniversary. A cardholder who spends ₹5 lakh steadily through the year but only ₹40,000 in that particular quarter misses it. Diarise the anniversary.

Milestone

A Noise ColorFit Pulse 4 Pro smartwatch worth ₹7,999 at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend.

As with SBI Card PULSE, which gives the same watch as a welcome gift, treat ₹7,999 as a manufacturer's sticker price rather than realisable value — you cannot exchange it, and if you already own a watch it is worth much less to you.

₹6 lakh is also double the ₹3 lakh fee-reversal threshold, so a cardholder optimising for the fee alone will not reach it.

Lounge Access

4 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits a year. No international lounge access.

Worked Example

Illustrative, at ₹35,000 a month — ₹4.2 lakh a year, clearing the fee reversal but not the milestone:

CategoryMonthly spendRatePointsValue
Apollo 24\7 and Apollo Pharmacy₹6,00010%600₹600
Dining, movies, travel₹8,0002%160₹160
Everything else₹19,0000.5%95₹95
Fuel₹2,0000%0₹0
**Monthly total****₹35,000****855****₹855 — 2.44%**

Annual tally:

Reward Points earned — **as Health Credits**₹10,260
Welcome Apollo voucher (year one)₹1,500
**Year-one total****₹11,760**
**Steady state****₹10,260**
Annual fee**₹0** (reversed at ₹3 lakh)
**Effective return****2.44% of spend**

Plus the annual health check-up, FITPASS PRO, Apollo Circle benefits and four lounge visits, none of them priced.

But ₹10,260 of Health Credits is only ₹10,260 if you spend it at Apollo. At ₹6,000 a month of Apollo spend you clearly will. If your Apollo spend were ₹1,000 a month, most of the credits would sit unused — and the card's real return would be a fraction of the figure above.

Where You Won't Earn

ExcludedNote
**Fuel**MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983
**Cash advances**2.5% fee, minimum ₹500, interest from day one

The fuel surcharge waiver is the whole fuel benefit — but note SBI states it here without publishing a transaction band or a cap, which is unusual; every other card in the range publishes both. Assume the standard ₹500–₹3,000 band and ₹100 cycle cap unless SBI's terms say otherwise.

SBI's range-wide transaction fees apply: ₹199 per rent payment, 1% on wallet loads above ₹1,000, 1% on utility payments once the cycle total passes ₹50,000, and 1% on education payments through third-party apps.

The choice is not simply "more is better". The SELECT's 10% is more than triple, but it is narrower (Apollo 24|7 and Pharmacy only, not hospitals or diagnostics), capped where the standard card's is not, and less liquid (no instant POS redemption).

Rough break-even on the ₹1,000 fee difference: about ₹15,000 of annual Apollo 24|7 spend, where the extra 7 percentage points repay the gap. Below that — or if your Apollo spend is mostly hospital and diagnostics — the ₹499 card is the better buy.

Is the Apollo SBI Card SELECT Worth It?

Yes, if your household spends ₹5,000+ a month at Apollo 24|7 or Apollo Pharmacy. 10% on recurring medicine and diagnostics is exceptional, the fee is reversed at ₹3 lakh, and the credits will genuinely be spent.

Yes, if you would value the wrapper. An annual health check-up, FITPASS PRO and Apollo Circle benefits are a coherent package for someone managing family health costs.

No, if you would not spend the Health Credits at Apollo. They convert to nothing else. A points currency with one exit is only worth its face value to someone who uses that exit.

No, if your Apollo spend is mainly hospitals or diagnostics. The 10% covers Apollo 24|7 and Pharmacy; the standard card's 3X covers all Apollo services and costs a third as much.

Watch the 90-day window on the annual health check-up — it is not measured on anniversary-year spend.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the annual fee of the Apollo SBI Card SELECT? ₹1,499 plus GST, on joining and renewal. The renewal fee is reversed at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend.

What can I redeem the points for? Apollo Health Credits only — 1 point = 1 Health Credit = Re. 1 — and conversion runs only through the SBI Card mobile app and website. There is no cash, statement-credit or catalogue channel.

Is the 10% rate capped? Yes — 5,000 Reward Points per statement cycle, which binds at ₹50,000 of Apollo spend. The dining, entertainment and travel band has its own separate 5,000-point cap. Past either, the 0.5% base rate applies. SBI's product page publishes neither cap; they come from its own SELECT FAQ.

Does the 10% apply at Apollo Hospitals? Not as published. The SELECT's 10% fires on Apollo 24|7 and Apollo Pharmacy. The standard Apollo SBI Card's 3X applies to all Apollo services, including hospitals and diagnostics.

What is the base rate? 1 Reward Point per ₹200 — 0.5%. Note the accelerated bands are per ₹100 while the base is per ₹200.

What is the milestone benefit? A Noise ColorFit Pulse 4 Pro smartwatch, stated at ₹7,999, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — double the fee-reversal threshold.

How does the annual health check-up work? It recurs every year, conditional on spending ₹50,000 within 90 days of each card anniversary — not on anniversary-year spend generally. Steady spenders who are slow in that window miss it.

How many lounge visits do I get? Four complimentary domestic visits a year. There is no international lounge access.
