The Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card is a Jupiter-run, app-only credit card built around two things most Indian cards handle badly: online brand shopping and UPI. It advertises headline rates of 10% on a fixed list of shopping partners and 5% on travel portals, carries no annual fee at all, and works as a RuPay UPI credit card you can scan and pay with. The catch is that rewards land as Jupiter "Jewels", not rupees — and the caps arrive faster than the marketing suggests.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian resident aged 23 to 60 years
  • Steady monthly income — no specific income floor is published by CSB Bank or Jupiter
  • A healthy credit score; issuance is at CSB Bank's sole discretion based on bureau history, occupation, education and age
  • Documents: PAN or Aadhaar, digital salary slips or bank statements, and a video KYC selfie
  • The card can only be applied for, activated and managed through the Jupiter mobile app

Welcome Benefit

There is no welcome benefit documented for the Edge+ card in its Terms and Conditions. The ₹250 partner-brand voucher that appears in the shared T&C document belongs to the base Edge CSB Bank Credit Card, not Edge+ — a distinction worth making, because several review sites conflate the two.

Jupiter has periodically run referral-gated sign-up bundles (a one-year Amazon Prime Lite subscription, fraud protection, and a zero joining fee) but these are time-boxed promotions rather than a standing card benefit. Check the current offer in the app before applying, since the joining fee waiver in particular comes and goes.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

Rewards on Edge+ are credited as Jewels. Jupiter markets the rates as "50% / 25% / 5% Jewels", which is a Jewel-count percentage, not money. Translated into rupees at the best redemption value of ₹0.20 per Jewel, the real rates are:

CategoryMerchantsRate (Jewels)Rate (₹ value)Cap per statement cycle
ShoppingAmazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Ajio, Nykaa, Croma, Reliance Digital, Trent/Tata Retail, Reliance Retail50 Jewels per ₹10010%₹2,000 (₹600 per merchant)
TravelMakeMyTrip, EaseMyTrip, Yatra, Cleartrip (and Jupiter Flights in-app)25 Jewels per ₹1005%₹1,000
OthersEverything else eligible, including UPI scan and pay5 Jewels per ₹1001%₹1,000
Others – RestrictedExcluded MCCsNilNil—

Two structural details do most of the damage to the headline number.

The per-merchant sub-cap. Within the ₹2,000 shopping cap sits a ₹600 limit per merchant. You cannot put ₹20,000 on Amazon alone and collect ₹2,000; Amazon alone tops out at ₹600, which means roughly ₹6,000 of Amazon spend. Maxing the shopping bucket requires spreading spend across at least four of the ten partners.

Category is decided by MCC, not by the app you opened. The T&C is explicit that "Shopping" means retail purchases and specifically excludes groceries, gift cards, utility bill payments, subscriptions and insurance premiums. Buy groceries on Amazon Fresh or JioMart and the transaction is treated as "Others" at 1%, not 10% — the merchant name does not save you.

Illustrative monthly example

The T&C contains no worked rewards example, so the following is illustrative, built from the published rates and caps.

SpendAmountCategoryJewelsValue
Amazon (electronics)₹8,000Shopping3,000 (capped)₹600
Flipkart₹4,000Shopping2,000₹400
Myntra₹3,000Shopping1,500₹300
Cleartrip flight₹12,000Travel3,000₹600
UPI + offline spends₹25,000Others1,250₹250
Electricity bill₹3,000Excluded0₹0
Petrol₹4,000Excluded0₹0
**Total****₹59,000****10,750****₹2,150**

Note that Amazon hit its ₹600 merchant ceiling at ₹6,000 of spend — the last ₹2,000 earned nothing. At a maximum, running all three buckets to their caps yields ₹4,000 of reward value per cycle, or ₹48,000 a year, which requires a very specific and unusually well-distributed spend pattern.

What a Jewel is actually worth

This matters more than the rates. Since the June 2026 revision, Jewels redeem at two different values:

  • ₹0.20 per Jewel (100 Jewels = ₹20) for brand vouchers, Digital Gold, Jupiter Flights, airline miles, insurance premiums and the EMI Store
  • ₹0.14 per Jewel (100 Jewels = ₹14) for cash, statement credit, bill discounts and credit card bill payments

Every rate quoted above assumes the ₹0.20 route. If you redeem for statement credit — the option most people default to on a card sold as "cashback" — the 10% becomes 7%, the 5% becomes 3.5%, and the 1% becomes 0.7%.

Other Benefits

  • Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% waiver, maximum ₹100 per statement cycle, on fuel transactions between ₹400 and ₹3,000. Note that fuel spends themselves earn no Jewels.
  • UPI on credit: the card links to the Jupiter UPI app for scan-and-pay, intent and collect transactions, with rewards on eligible merchant UPI spends.
  • EMI conversion: UPI and credit card spends can be converted to EMI starting at 1.33% per month.
  • Insurance and concierge: personal accident and total permanent disability cover up to ₹2 lakh, plus 24x7 concierge in English and Hindi — but the T&C limits this to the Platinum variant card (BIN 653038), so it is not universal across cardholders.
  • Card controls: freeze, sleep mode (blocking transactions during a chosen daily window), per-channel daily limits and token management, all in-app.
  • Credit limit: up to ₹7 lakh per Jupiter, with in-app limit increase recommendations.

There is no lounge access, no golf, no movie BOGO and no milestone benefit on this card.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn Jewels

The exclusion list on Edge+ is long, and it removes several categories that people habitually push through UPI credit cards:

  • Fuel spends (MCCs 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983)
  • Utility bill payments — electricity, gas, water, telephone (MCC 4900)
  • Telecom and mobile recharges (MCC 4814) and cable/pay TV (MCC 4899)
  • Government-related transactions and tax payments (MCCs 9399, 9311, 7276)
  • Rent payments (MCC 6513)
  • Tolls, road and bridge fees (MCC 4784)
  • Insurance premiums, sales and underwriting (MCCs 6381, 6300)
  • Wallet loads, gift or prepaid card loads, and voucher purchases
  • All EMI transactions — EasyEMI, SmartEMI, Dial-an-EMI
  • Cash advances, outstanding balance payments, and card fees and charges
  • Financial institutions and quasi-cash (MCCs 6010, 6011, 6012, 6051, 6211, 6540), gambling and lottery (7995, 7800, 7801, 7802), digital goods and games (5816, 5817), and a range of professional services (8111 legal, 8351 childcare, 8398 charitable, 8641 associations, 8931 accounting)

Several of these also carry a fee on top of earning nothing: rent payments cost 1% with a ₹149 minimum, wallet loads 1%, utility payments 1% above ₹20,000 (or once monthly utility spends cross ₹50,000), education payments on third-party apps 1%, and fuel 1% above ₹10,000. Education spends do at least still earn the 1% base rate.

Cash withdrawal is not expensive on this card — it is blocked entirely, in India and overseas.

Is the Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card Worth It?

For someone who buys most of their household goods, electronics and clothing online across several of the ten partner brands, and who is willing to redeem Jewels as vouchers or Digital Gold rather than statement credit, the Edge+ is a strong lifetime-free proposition. Getting ₹2,000 a month back from a card with no annual fee is genuinely hard to beat, and the RuPay UPI functionality means the 1% bucket catches everyday scan-and-pay spending that most credit cards never see.

It is a weaker fit for three groups. Anyone whose spending concentrates on one merchant will run into the ₹600 per-merchant ceiling long before the ₹2,000 category cap. Anyone who wants clean cashback will be disappointed by the two-tier Jewel valuation, which quietly costs 30% of the headline rate on statement-credit redemptions. And anyone who routes rent, utilities, insurance, fuel or recharges through their card will find those categories not just unrewarded but fee-bearing here — this card actively punishes that pattern.

Treat the advertised "save up to ₹50,000 a year" as a ceiling that assumes near-perfect spend distribution. A realistic heavy user lands closer to ₹20,000–25,000 of annual value, which is still excellent for a card with no annual fee.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is the Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card lifetime free? There is no annual or renewal membership fee, for primary or add-on cardholders. A one-time joining fee of ₹999 plus GST applies, though Jupiter frequently waives it during promotional windows.

How much is one Jewel worth? ₹0.20 when redeemed for brand vouchers, Digital Gold, Jupiter Flights, airline miles, insurance or the EMI Store. Only ₹0.14 when redeemed for cash, statement credit, bill discounts or credit card bill payments, following the June 2026 revision.

Which brands give the 10% rate? Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Ajio, Nykaa, Croma, Reliance Digital, Trent Retail / Tata Retail, and Reliance Retail.

Is there really a ₹600 per-merchant limit? Yes. Within the ₹2,000 shopping category cap per statement cycle, no single merchant can contribute more than ₹600 of reward value. Note that the older T&C document circulating on CSB Bank's site still shows ₹1,500 and ₹500 respectively — verify the current figures in the Jupiter app.

Do groceries on Amazon or Flipkart earn 10%? No. The T&C excludes groceries from the definition of "Shopping". Amazon Fresh, Flipkart Minutes, BigBasket, Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart and JioMart all earn the 1% Others rate.

Do UPI payments earn rewards? Eligible merchant UPI spends earn the 1% Others rate. UPI transactions in excluded categories — fuel, utilities, rent, government, recharges — earn nothing.

Can I withdraw cash from an ATM? No. Cash withdrawal is not permitted on this card, in India or overseas.

Does the card offer airport lounge access? No lounge benefit is documented in the card's Terms and Conditions, MITC or Jupiter's product page. Some third-party sites report a RuPay-network lounge visit subject to high quarterly spend — treat that as unconfirmed.

What happens if I miss a payment? A late payment fee of 5% of the outstanding due applies (min ₹250, max ₹2,000), interest accrues at 45% per annum, and — specific to this card — Jewels earned in that cycle are locked and further earning is paused until the Minimum Amount Due is cleared.

Do Jewels expire? Jewels have lifetime validity in normal use, but are nullified if the card goes unused for more than 365 days, lapse entirely if dues remain unpaid for 90 days, and are forfeited on card closure.

Is this the same as the Edge CSB Bank Credit Card? No. The base Edge card has no joining fee and offers 2% on one self-selected category (travel, food or shopping, switchable every three billing cycles) plus 0.4% on everything else. Edge+ is the upgraded variant with the 10%/5%/1% structure.

What is the forex markup? 3.5% plus GST on international transactions, and also on rupee transactions at merchants or payment gateways based outside India. That makes this a poor card for overseas or international-gateway spending.
