KrisFlyer SBI Card Review 2026: Miles Straight to Your KrisFlyer Account, Elite Silver & FAQs
KrisFlyer SBI Card costs ₹2,999 and earns 5 KrisFlyer Miles per ₹200 on Singapore Airlines and international spends, 2 elsewhere, credited straight to your KrisFlyer account. Full mile maths, the no-waiver catch, fees and FAQs.
The KrisFlyer SBI Card earns KrisFlyer Miles credited directly to your Singapore Airlines account — no conversion request, no redemption step, no SBI middleman. At ₹2,999 a year it pays 5 miles per ₹200 on Singapore Airlines and on international spends, and 2 per ₹200 on everything else, with four domestic and four international lounge visits and a path to KrisFlyer Elite Silver.
Two things to weigh before applying: the card has no fee waiver at any spend level, and its base rate is low — 0.67% at the working mile valuation.

What a KrisFlyer Mile Is Actually Worth
Every percentage here uses ₹0.67 a mile. The honest answer is a range:
| Channel | Value per mile | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| **KrisShop, Pelago and Kris+** | **₹0.67** | **Guaranteed, always available** — 100 miles = SGD 1 since 1 July 2025 |
| Singapore Airlines business class, ex-India | ₹1.74 – ₹2.17 | Contingent on award availability |
| Singapore Airlines economy award | ~₹0.47 | Contingent on award availability |
₹0.67 is Singapore Airlines' own published, always-available rate — no award seat needed. It is FX-dependent, since the underlying rate is set in Singapore dollars.
If you redeem for long-haul business class, this card returns roughly two and a half times the figures below. If you redeem economy awards, slightly less. That spread matters more on this card than on most, because the base rate is thin enough that the redemption channel decides whether the card is good or poor.
Reward Structure
| Spend | Miles | Effective rate at ₹0.67 |
|---|---|---|
| **Singapore Airlines Group** | 5 per ₹200 | **1.68%** |
| **International spends** | 5 per ₹200 | **1.68%** |
| Everything else | 2 per ₹200 | **0.67%** |
| Fuel, cash advances | Nil | **0%** |
None of the rates carries a published cap.
There is no premium for actually flying Singapore Airlines
Look closely at the first two rows: Singapore Airlines spend and general international spend earn the same 5 miles per ₹200. On this card, buying an SQ ticket earns exactly what buying anything else abroad earns. The co-brand badge does not come with a co-brand rate.
The Apex changes this — it pays 10 miles on Singapore Airlines against 8 on other international spend — but on the standard card there is no SQ premium at all.
Two conditions the schema can't capture
The international rate is a geography condition, not a merchant category. There is no merchant code for "spent abroad", so any calculator built on merchant categories will understate this card for someone spending overseas. In practice the acquirer's country determines it.
The ₹200 denominator rounds down. A ₹350 purchase earns on ₹200. On small, frequent transactions the real rate is meaningfully below 0.67%.
The Elite Silver Upgrade
Spend ₹2,50,000 on Singapore Airlines, booked through the SQ app or website, and you are upgraded to KrisFlyer Elite Silver.
₹2.5 lakh is reachable — roughly two or three long-haul economy tickets, or one business fare. Elite Silver brings priority waitlist and standby, a small mileage bonus on SQ flights and select booking privileges. It is a modest tier, not Star Alliance Gold — that is the Apex's ₹7.5 lakh Elite Gold threshold.
Welcome Benefit and Milestone
Welcome: 3,000 KrisFlyer Miles — ₹2,010 at ₹0.67 — credited on payment of the annual fee and a first transaction within 60 days of card issuance. That recovers two-thirds of the fee in year one.
Milestone: 3,000 bonus miles at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — another ₹2,010.
Milestones run annually from the account creation date, not the calendar year, and credit within 30 days.
Lounge Access — Read the Two-Year Limit
- 1 complimentary domestic airport lounge visit every quarter — 4 a year
- 4 complimentary international visits a year
Both on a complimentary Priority Pass membership worth US$99, with two limitations SBI states plainly:
- Primary cardholders only
- Valid for 2 years only — after that the membership lapses while the card continues
That second point is significant on a card whose ₹2,999 fee never reduces. From year three you may be paying full price for a card with no lounge membership, unless SBI renews it — which the captured terms do not promise. Ask before year three.
Beyond the complimentary visits, Priority Pass lounges are charged at the standard rate.
Worked Example
Illustrative, at ₹45,000 a month — ₹5.4 lakh a year:
| Category | Monthly spend | Rate | Miles | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore Airlines | ₹5,000 | 1.68% | 125 | ₹84 |
| Other international spend | ₹8,000 | 1.68% | 200 | ₹134 |
| Everything else | ₹30,000 | 0.67% | 300 | ₹201 |
| Fuel | ₹2,000 | 0% | 0 | ₹0 |
| **Monthly total** | **₹45,000** | **625** | **₹419 — 0.93%** |
Annual tally:
| Miles earned | ₹5,028 |
|---|---|
| Milestone at ₹3 lakh | ₹2,010 |
| Welcome miles (year one) | ₹2,010 |
| **Year-one total** | **₹9,048** |
| **Steady state** | **₹7,038** |
| Annual fee | **₹2,999** (never waived) |
| **Net, steady state** | **₹4,039 — 0.75% of spend** |
Plus 4 domestic and 4 international lounge visits, not counted — and on any reasonable valuation those are worth more than the ₹4,039.
Redeem the miles for long-haul business class and the same accrual is worth roughly ₹13,000–₹16,000, which transforms the arithmetic.
Where You Won't Earn
SBI does not publish an exclusion list for this card. Its wording is "Reward Points are not applicable on some spend categories. Refer to TnC for more details", and the referenced terms are not reproduced on the product page.
Fuel and cash advances are excluded, as on every SBI card. Treat the base rate as a ceiling on categories SBI has not addressed, and check your first statements.
The fuel surcharge waiver is the whole fuel benefit: 1% reversed on transactions between ₹500 and ₹3,000, capped at ₹100 per statement cycle.
SBI's range-wide transaction fees apply: ₹199 per rent payment, 1% on wallet loads above ₹1,000, 1% on utility payments once the cycle total passes ₹50,000, and 1% on education payments through third-party apps.
Fees and Charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹2,999 + GST |
| Renewal fee | ₹2,999 + GST — **no spend-based reversal at any level** |
| Add-on card fee | Nil |
| Finance charge | 3.75% per month — **45% per annum** |
| Interest-free period | 20 to 50 days; none if any part of last month's bill is unpaid |
| Forex markup | **3.5%** |
| Cash advance fee | 2.5%, minimum ₹500 |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on ₹500–₹3,000, max ₹100 per cycle |
| Late payment | ₹100 to ₹1,300 by balance |
| Overlimit | 2.5%, minimum ₹600 |
| GST | 18% on all of the above |
The 3.5% forex markup undoes the international rate. You earn 1.68% on foreign spend and pay 3.5% to make it — net 1.82% down at the working mile valuation. On a card whose accelerated rate is largely about spending abroad, that is a real problem. It only reverses if you redeem for premium-cabin awards.
KrisFlyer SBI Card vs Apex
| **KrisFlyer SBI Card** | KrisFlyer SBI Card Apex | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual fee | ₹2,999 | ₹9,999 |
| Singapore Airlines | 5 miles / ₹200 (1.68%) | **10 miles / ₹200 (3.35%)** |
| International | 5 miles / ₹200 (1.68%) | 8 miles / ₹200 (2.68%) |
| Base rate | 2 miles / ₹200 (0.67%) | **6 miles / ₹200 (2.01%)** |
| Welcome | 3,000 miles | 10,000 miles |
| Milestone | 3,000 at ₹3 lakh | 10,000 at ₹5 lakh + 3,000 at ₹10 lakh |
| Domestic lounge | 4 a year | 8 a year |
| International lounge | 4 a year | 8 a year |
| Status | Elite **Silver** at ₹2.5 lakh SQ | Elite **Gold** at ₹7.5 lakh SQ |
Break-even on the ₹7,000 fee difference is roughly ₹5.2 lakh of general annual spend, where the Apex's tripled base rate alone repays the gap. Below that, the standard card is the sensible rung.
Is the KrisFlyer SBI Card Worth It?
Yes, if you redeem KrisFlyer Miles for Singapore Airlines premium cabins. At business-class award values the card returns well above 4% on international spend, and the direct-credit mechanic means no conversion friction.
Yes, if the Elite Silver pathway matters to you and ₹2.5 lakh of SQ spend is realistic.
No, as a general-purpose card. A 0.67% base rate against an unwaivable ₹2,999 fee is weak. SBI Card PRIME costs the same, pays 2.5% uncapped on four everyday categories and reverses the fee at ₹3 lakh.
No, if you spend abroad but do not redeem for premium awards. 1.68% earned against a 3.5% markup leaves you down on every foreign transaction.
Consider the Apex instead if your annual spend exceeds ₹5 lakh — the tripled base rate makes it the better card despite the higher fee.
