IndiGo SBI Card Review 2026: 3 BluChips per ₹100, Gated Lounges, the ₹0.50 Reality & FAQs
IndiGo SBI Card costs ₹1,499 and earns 3 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights, 1 elsewhere, with a 2,500-BluChip renewal voucher. But BluChips are worth ₹0.50, lounges are gated on spend and there is no fee waiver. Full maths, fees and FAQs.
The IndiGo SBI Card is the entry rung of SBI's IndiGo co-brand: ₹1,499 a year, 3 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights booked direct, 2 on travel and 1 on everything else, with a 2,500-BluChip voucher on every renewal and three milestone vouchers.
Three things the marketing does not make clear. BluChips are worth ₹0.50, not ₹1. Lounge access is gated on previous-quarter spend. And there is no fee waiver at any level — so at ₹0.50 a BluChip, the ₹1,250 renewal voucher does not even cover the ₹1,499 fee.

Eligibility Criteria
SBI Card publishes no age or income threshold. Approval rests on its own assessment. Indian residency and a valid PAN are required. Add-on cards are free.
What a BluChip Is Actually Worth: ₹0.50
The co-brand marketing implies a BluChip is worth a rupee. It is not, and the reason is structural.
IndiGo prices award seats dynamically against the live cash fare. There is no published conversion rate. What a BluChip buys moves with route, date and demand — spend them on a ₹3,000 off-peak hop and they stretch; spend them on a ₹12,000 peak-season fare and they do not.
₹0.50 is the working valuation used throughout this article, and every rupee figure derives from it:
| SBI's headline | At ₹0.50 a BluChip |
|---|---|
| 3 BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo | **1.5%** |
| 2 BluChips per ₹100 on travel | **1%** |
| 1 BluChip per ₹100 elsewhere | **0.5%** |
| 2,500-BluChip voucher | **₹1,250** |
That ₹0.50 changes the card's whole arithmetic. The 2,500-BluChip renewal voucher is worth ₹1,250 against a ₹1,499 fee — so the renewal benefit alone does not cover the fee. At ₹1 a BluChip it would; at ₹0.50 it does not. The card has to earn the rest on IndiGo flight spend.
The IndiGo Rate Depends on Where You Book
3 BluChips per ₹100 applies only to IndiGo flights booked on the IndiGo app or goindigo.in.
The same IndiGo ticket bought through MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip, Yatra or any other travel site earns the travel rate (1%) or the base rate (0.5%) instead. This is a booking-channel condition, not a merchant category, and it is the easiest way to lose the card's main benefit without realising.
Lounge Access Is Gated
The headline is 4 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits a year, 1 per quarter. There is no international lounge access.
But access in any quarter requires ₹50,000 of spend in the previous quarter.
- A new cardholder gets nothing in their first quarter — there is no previous quarter to qualify on.
- Any quarter you fall short costs the following quarter's visit, and it does not roll forward.
- Sustaining all four visits means ₹2 lakh a year, spread evenly across quarters.
It is a quarterly test, not an annual one. A cardholder who spends ₹2 lakh lumpily will lose visits despite clearing the annual figure.
Reward Structure
| Spend | BluChips | Effective rate at ₹0.50 |
|---|---|---|
| **IndiGo flights, booked on app or goindigo.in** | 3 per ₹100 | **1.5%** |
| Hotel, lodging and travel | 2 per ₹100 | **1%** |
| Everything else | 1 per ₹100 | **0.5%** |
| Utility, government, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell, insurance | Nil | **0%** |
No caps on any rate.
The exclusion list is wider than most SBI cards and SBI names it outright: utility, government transactions, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell and insurance. Several are ordinary recurring payments that earn nothing here.
Welcome, Renewal and Milestone Benefits
Welcome: a 2,500-BluChip voucher (₹1,250), credited after annual fee payment and a first transaction within 60 days of account opening.
Renewal: a 2,500-BluChip voucher (₹1,250) on payment of each year's fee. A genuine recurring benefit — but, as above, it covers only five-sixths of the ₹1,499 fee at ₹0.50 a BluChip.
Milestones — three rungs, all the same size:
| Annual spend | Benefit | Value at ₹0.50 |
|---|---|---|
| ₹2,00,000 | 2,500-BluChip voucher | ₹1,250 |
| ₹4,00,000 | 2,500-BluChip voucher | ₹1,250 |
| ₹6,00,000 | 2,500-BluChip voucher | ₹1,250 |
| **All three** | **7,500 BluChips** | **₹3,750** |
Clearing all three is 0.63% on ₹6 lakh of spend in milestones — modest, and it requires a lot of spending to get there.
One caution on the vouchers. BluChips here arrive as a voucher, not a points balance. On the equivalent Kotak IndiGo cards those vouchers expire six months from issuance and are consumed in full on a single one-way booking whatever the fare — so a 2,500-BluChip voucher spent on a ₹1,500 ticket wastes most of it. SBI does not publish its own voucher terms on the captured pages, so check them before redeeming.
Worked Example
Illustrative, at ₹30,000 a month — ₹3.6 lakh a year, clearing one milestone rung and holding the lounge gate:
| Category | Monthly spend | Rate | BluChips | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IndiGo flights, booked direct | ₹6,000 | 1.5% | 180 | ₹90 |
| Hotels and other travel | ₹4,000 | 1% | 80 | ₹40 |
| Everything else | ₹18,000 | 0.5% | 180 | ₹90 |
| Utilities, fuel, insurance | ₹2,000 | 0% | 0 | ₹0 |
| **Monthly total** | **₹30,000** | **440** | **₹220 — 0.73%** |
Annual tally:
| BluChips earned | ₹2,640 |
|---|---|
| Milestone at ₹2 lakh | ₹1,250 |
| Renewal voucher | ₹1,250 |
| **Steady state total** | **₹5,140** |
| Annual fee | **₹1,499** (never waived) |
| **Net** | **₹3,641 — 1.01% of spend** |
Plus 4 domestic lounge visits (₹90,000 a quarter clears the ₹50,000 gate comfortably).
Note how thin the earn rate is: ₹2,640 of the ₹5,140 comes from the fixed renewal voucher and milestone rather than from spending. This is a voucher card more than a rewards card.
Where You Won't Earn
SBI names the exclusions outright: utility, government transactions, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell and insurance, plus cash advances.
The fuel surcharge waiver is the whole fuel benefit: 1% reversed on transactions between ₹500 and ₹4,000, capped at ₹200 per statement cycle — double the ₹100 most SBI cards allow.
SBI's range-wide transaction fees apply: ₹199 per rent payment, 1% on wallet loads above ₹1,000, 1% on utility payments once the cycle total passes ₹50,000, and 1% on education payments through third-party apps. Rent, utilities and insurance are *excluded from rewards and several carry their own fee*.

| Add-on card fee | Nil |
| Finance charge | 3.75% per month — **45% per annum** |
| Interest-free period | 20 to 50 days; none if any part of last month's bill is unpaid |

| Cash advance fee | 2.5%, minimum ₹500 |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on ₹500–₹4,000, max ₹200 per cycle |

Standard vs IndiGo SBI Card ELITE
| **IndiGo SBI Card** | IndiGo SBI Card ELITE | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual fee | ₹1,499 | ₹4,999 |
| IndiGo flights | 3 BluChips per ₹100 (1.5%) | **7 per ₹100 (3.5%)** |
| Travel | 2 per ₹100 (1%) | 3 per ₹100 (1.5%) |
| Base rate | 0.5% | **1%** |
| Renewal voucher | 2,500 BluChips (₹1,250) | 5,000 BluChips (₹2,500) |
| Milestones | 3 × 2,500 (₹3,750) | **4 × 6,000 (₹12,000)** |
| Domestic lounge | 4 a year | 8 a year |
| International lounge | **0** | 6 a year |
| Lounge gate | ₹50,000 previous quarter | ₹1,00,000 previous quarter |
| Fee waiver | None | None |
Break-even on the ₹3,500 fee difference is roughly ₹7 lakh of general annual spend on the doubled base rate alone — much less if you fly IndiGo often, where the rate more than doubles.
The standard card's advantage is its more achievable lounge gate: ₹50,000 a quarter against ₹1 lakh. If your spending is moderate, four visits you actually get beat fourteen you do not.
Is the IndiGo SBI Card Worth It?
Yes, if you fly IndiGo several times a year and book direct. 1.5% on fares plus a ₹1,250 renewal voucher makes sense for a regular flyer, particularly one who books cheap off-peak fares where BluChips stretch further.
Marginal if you fly occasionally. With no fee waiver, a renewal voucher that covers only five-sixths of the fee, and a 0.5% base rate, the card needs meaningful IndiGo spend to justify itself.
No, as a general-purpose card. 0.5% on everything, with utilities, rent, insurance and fuel all excluded, is weak against the ₹499 cards in SBI's own range.
No, if your spending is uneven. The lounge gate is a quarterly test, and a weak quarter costs you the next quarter's visit regardless of your annual total.
Set expectations on BluChip value. ₹0.50 is a working figure, not a published rate. IndiGo prices awards dynamically, so what your BluChips buy varies with route, date and demand.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the annual fee of the IndiGo SBI Card? ₹1,499 plus GST, on joining and renewal. No spend-based fee reversal is published at any level for either IndiGo SBI card.
What is an IndiGo BluChip worth? There is no published conversion rate — IndiGo prices award seats dynamically against the live cash fare. ₹0.50 is the working valuation used throughout this review. Cheap off-peak fares beat it; peak fares do not.
What is the reward rate? 3 BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights booked on the IndiGo app or website, 2 per ₹100 on hotel, lodging and travel, and 1 per ₹100 on everything else — 1.5%, 1% and 0.5% at ₹0.50 a BluChip. None of the rates is capped.
Does an IndiGo ticket bought on a travel site earn 3 BluChips? No. The accelerated rate applies only to bookings on the IndiGo app or goindigo.in. Third-party bookings earn the travel or base rate.
How does lounge access work? Four complimentary domestic visits a year, one per quarter — but access in any quarter requires ₹50,000 of spend in the previous quarter. A new cardholder gets nothing in their first quarter, and unused visits do not carry forward. There is no international lounge access.
Does the renewal voucher cover the annual fee? Not quite. The 2,500-BluChip voucher is worth ₹1,250 at ₹0.50 a BluChip, against a ₹1,499 fee. The card has to make up the difference on flight spend.
What are the milestone benefits? A 2,500-BluChip voucher at each of ₹2 lakh, ₹4 lakh and ₹6 lakh of annual spend — 7,500 BluChips, or ₹3,750, if all three are cleared.
What is excluded from rewards? Utility, government transactions, rental, fuel, gaming, cross-sell and insurance, plus cash advances.
