Reward Structure: How You Earn

Cashback is credited in rupees, so every percentage here is a true percentage with no point valuation to translate.

4.0% cashback on the accelerated band, capped at ₹1,500 per billing cycle. 1% on all other eligible purchases.

RBL stopped paying rewards on a whole category block on 13 November 2023 — Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets. The same list is excluded from milestone spend and from the lounge qualification on the banking cards.

The caps that actually bind

Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:

CapLimit
Accel1,500 points per calendar month

The accelerated cap binds at ₹37,500 of qualifying spend a cycle — ₹1,500 of cashback, so about ₹18,000 a year at most from that band.

RBL does not enumerate the accelerated merchant list on the uploaded page, so the 4.0% cannot be planned around precisely.

The same category exclusions apply to the milestone AND the lounge qualification, not just to earning — RBL uses one list for all three.

Milestone Benefits

SpendBenefitValue
₹4 lakh a year₹2,000 milestone cashback₹2,000

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets and Service Providers — RBL's own category list, excluded from earning AND from milestone spend calculation, with effect from 13 November 2023. Railways and Government are excluded on some cards additionally. Base Reward Points are also NOT accrued on EMI conversion of retail transactions, including Split-N-Pay and EMI requests placed at the point of sale.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points expire after the validity period RBL prescribes and are forfeited on card closure. Points transferred to a partner programme are governed by that programme's expiry rules, not RBL's.
  • Accel cap: ₹1,500 of accelerated cashback per billing cycle — binding at ₹37,500 of qualifying spend a cycle.

Is the RBL Bank Signature Banking Credit Card Worth It?

The milestone is ₹2,000 of cashback at ₹400,000 of eligible purchases in a membership year — a clean 0.5% on the threshold, on top of the base rate.

If you hold the banking relationship the card is free, which removes the whole question of whether it repays a fee.

The 1% base is uncapped, which is more useful than it sounds — most RBL cards cap everything.

The ₹99 redemption fee is waived on this card, one of eight in the RBL range.
