RBL Bank Shoppers Stop Black Credit Card earns 15 Reward Points per ₹200 at Shoppers Stop and 4 per ₹200 elsewhere, with points worth ₹1.0.

That last number is the one to check. The three Shoppers Stop variants use three different point values — Black at ₹1, Platinum at ₹0.50 and Gold at ₹0.25 — so comparing their point counts without checking the value gets the ranking backwards.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

RBL states this card's point value directly: 1 Point = ₹1.0.

15 Reward Points per ₹200 at Shoppers Stop — 7.5%. 4 Reward Points per ₹200 on other spends — 2.0%.

RBL stopped paying rewards on a whole category block on 13 November 2023 — Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets. The same list is excluded from milestone spend.

Everything else2.0%

RBL's page states a second, contradictory rate for the Shoppers Stop band — a 'Cap' line reading '15 Reward Points per ₹1,500' alongside the per-₹200 figure. Those cannot both be right, and the per-₹1,500 version is more than seven times worse. This review uses the per-₹200 headline; verify with RBL before planning around it.

Points redeem against Shoppers Stop vouchers. There is no cash-out, so the valuation holds only for someone who shops there.

RBL rounds down on every transaction. A ₹350 spend at 1 point per ₹100 earns 3 points and the ₹50 is lost — every time, not cumulatively.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Real Estate and Rental, Education, and Wallets and Service Providers — RBL's own category list, excluded from earning AND from milestone spend calculation, with effect from 13 November 2023. Railways and Government are excluded on some cards additionally. Base Reward Points are also NOT accrued on EMI conversion of retail transactions, including Split-N-Pay and EMI requests placed at the point of sale.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points expire after the validity period RBL prescribes and are forfeited on card closure. Points transferred to a partner programme are governed by that programme's expiry rules, not RBL's.
  • Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.

Is the RBL Bank Shoppers Stop Black Credit Card Worth It?

The milestones are ₹1,500 of vouchers at ₹2 lakh and ₹2,500 at ₹8 lakh of annual shopping — and they are the dependable part of the card, unlike the contested earn rate.

At ₹10,000 you need to shop at Shoppers Stop regularly for this to work. The vouchers and the accelerated rate both pay only there.

Check which variant you are being offered. The fee ranges from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000 across the three, and so does the point value — but the accelerated rate barely moves. Gold at ₹1,000 with 10 points at ₹0.25 returns 1.25% at Shoppers Stop; Black at ₹10,000 with 15 points at ₹1 returns 7.5%. The gap is almost entirely in the point value, not the point count.
