Kotak Urbane Gold Credit Card Review 2026: Flat 3 Points per ₹100, 4 PVR Tickets, Fees & FAQs
This card is closed to new applicants — Kotak's page title reads "Apply for Kotak Urbane Gold Credit Card Online (Discontinued)". Existing holders keep it, and Kotak still publishes its fees, rewards and milestone terms.
The Urbane Gold is about as simple as a credit card gets: a flat 3 Reward Points per ₹100 on retail spend, no accelerated categories at all, and one milestone at ₹1 lakh. The annual fee is ₹199 and waives at ₹15,000 of spend.
At ₹0.10 a point, that flat rate is 0.3%.

Reward Structure
3 Reward Points per ₹100 of retail spend. That's it — no accelerated category, no tiers, no channel split.
At ₹0.10 a point that's 0.3%, uncapped.
A point is worth ₹0.10 on the Kotak Rewards catalogue, stated on the card page as "Every 1000 reward points have a redeemable worth of Rs. 100". Minimum 1,000 points for catalogue redemption, redeemable against air miles, air tickets, recharges and merchandise.
Cash redemption is ₹0.07, reduced from ₹0.10 on 1 June 2025, with a 2,000-point minimum. Take cash and your 0.3% becomes 0.21%.
The milestone — and the number it tells you
₹1,00,000 of spend in a year earns a choice of:
- 4 free PVR tickets, or
- 10,000 Reward Points
Both options are worth ₹1,000 at ₹0.10 a point — which is how Kotak itself prices a PVR ticket at ₹250. (That figure is worth knowing: the Kotak 811's milestone gives three PVR tickets with no stated value, and ₹250 each is the only evidenced basis for valuing them.)
PVR ticket terms:
- Usable any day, any show, and transferable
- Issued as a Star Pass code, redeemable at pvrcinemas.com
- Must be claimed within 3 months of the programme period ending
₹1,000 of milestone value against a ₹199 fee is a good return — but it needs ₹1 lakh of eligible spend, and the eligibility list is narrow (see below).
The June 2025 revision
| Category | Reward Points earned |
|---|---|
| Utility | Up to **₹35,000** per statement cycle |
| **Wallet load, fuel, online skill-based gaming, insurance, government, rent, education** | **Nothing at any level** |
Seven categories zeroed, one capped — the same shape Kotak applied to the League Platinum and Kotak 811.
The same revision cut cash redemption from ₹0.10 to ₹0.07 and raised the cash minimum to 2,000 points.
These categories are also excluded from the milestone calculation, so if a meaningful share of your spend is utilities, insurance or education, reaching ₹1 lakh of eligible spend takes longer than your statements suggest.
No surcharge waivers at all
The Kotak MITC lists Urbane Gold among the products not eligible for the fuel surcharge waiver and not eligible for the railway surcharge waiver.
That makes it one of the few Kotak cards to lose both. Combined with fuel earning no points and attracting a 1% fee above ₹25,000 per statement cycle, fuel is a category to keep off this card entirely.
Fees and Charges

| Finance charges | 3.75% per month (45% per annum) |
| Interest-free period | Up to 51 days |
| Cash advance fee | 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500 |

| **Railway surcharge waiver** | **Not eligible** |
₹15,000 a year is the second-lowest waiver threshold on any Kotak card — ₹1,250 a month. With a nil joining fee, the card costs nothing for almost anyone who uses it at all.
Add-on Cards
Free, and with useful controls:
- Same benefits as the primary card
- You set the spend limit on each add-on
- Spends tracked separately per add-on card
Worked Example
A cardholder spending ₹1.5 lakh of eligible spend in a year:
| Source | Spend | Points | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat rate at 3/₹100 | ₹1,50,000 | 4,500 | ₹450 |
| Milestone at ₹1 lakh | — | 10,000 or 4 tickets | ₹1,000 |
| **Total** | **₹1,50,000** | — | **₹1,450** |
Fee waived at ₹15,000. That's 0.97% — and the milestone is 69% of it.
Below ₹1 lakh of eligible spend, the card returns a flat 0.3%, or 0.21% on cash redemptions. At a nil joining fee and a ₹199 annual fee that waives at ₹15,000, it still costs nothing — but it isn't doing much either.
Who This Card Still Suits
Keep it if:
- You reach ₹1 lakh of eligible spend a year — the milestone is most of the value
- You go to the cinema, and will actually claim and use four PVR tickets within the window
- You want a card that costs nothing: nil joining, ₹199 waived at ₹15,000, free add-ons
- You like the simplicity of one flat rate with no categories to track
Supplement it if:
- Your spend is concentrated in utilities, insurance, government, rent, education or fuel — all zeroed, and none of it counts towards the milestone
- You buy fuel on a card — no points, no surcharge waiver, and a 1% fee above ₹25,000 a cycle
- You travel by rail — no railway surcharge waiver either
- You want a meaningful earn rate — 0.3% is low even for an entry card
