IndiGo Kotak Premium Credit Card Review 2026: BluChip Earnings, Lounge Access, Milestone Vouchers, F

The IndiGo Kotak Premium Credit Card (listed by Kotak under the "IndiGo XL" product page and by some aggregators as the IndiGo Kotak XL Credit Card) is the higher of the two co-branded cards Kotak Mahindra Bank issues with IndiGo. It replaced the older 6E Rewards XL card in October 2025 and runs entirely on IndiGo's new BluChip loyalty currency. It suits someone who flies IndiGo often, books directly on IndiGo's website or app, and can push ₹12 lakh a year through the card to collect every milestone voucher.

IndiGo Kotak Premium Credit Card Quick Overview

Eligibility Criteria

• Age: 21 to 65 years for the primary cardholder; add-on cardholders from 18 years.
• Residency: Resident Indian, living in a city where Kotak issues credit cards.
• Income: Kotak does not publish a card-specific income floor. Its general credit-card norm is around ₹3,00,000 annual income for salaried applicants, subject to internal credit assessment.
• BluChip membership: You need an IndiGo BluChip account, registered against your mobile number and email. All BluChips and vouchers are credited there, not to a Kotak rewards account.

Welcome Benefit

On payment of the joining fee within the payment due date, you receive a voucher worth 4,000 IndiGo BluChips plus a 6E Eats voucher. The credit lands in your IndiGo BluChip account within 45 days of the due date of the statement carrying the joining fee, and Kotak notifies you by SMS and email.

Two conditions matter. First, if your joining fee is waived for any reason, you are not eligible for the welcome benefit — the benefit is explicitly tied to fee realisation. Second, both the BluChip voucher and the 6E Eats add-on are valid for only 6 months from the date they are credited, and BluChip vouchers can only be redeemed while booking flights on the IndiGo website or app.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

The card earns IndiGo BluChips. There is no monthly or annual cap on BluChip earning on any category — Kotak confirms this directly in its FAQs.

IndiGo flight bookings (IndiGo website and app only)

This is where the headline "up to 21 BluChips per ₹100" comes from. The total stacks four separate components, and only one of them is the card's own contribution. Here is the breakdown from the card's terms and conditions (Table A):

New members join at Blu 3, so 17 BluChips per ₹100 is the realistic starting rate — 21 only applies once you reach Blu 1, which requires ₹2 lakh of annual IndiGo flight spends and at least 8 IndiGo flights in a year. Blu 2 needs ₹1 lakh and 4 flights.

Three restrictions apply. IndiGo flights booked through any third-party website or app are not eligible for BluChip earning. Group, corporate, SME and agent bookings through IndiGo's own channels earn nothing. And crediting is conditional on you actually taking the flight, with the cardholder's name matching the booking PNR. BluChips for these transactions are credited 25 days after the end of the month in which the transaction was made.

Dining and entertainment

Unlimited 3 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100. Kotak identifies these spends purely by MCC, and the qualifying list from the T&C is: 5811, 5812, 5813, 5814, 7829, 7832, 7833, 7841, 7911, 7922, 7929, 7932, 7933, 7941, 7991, 7992, 7993, 7994, 7996, 7997, 7998 and 7999. That covers restaurants, bars, caterers, cinemas, theatres, amusement parks, sports and recreation clubs. If a merchant sits outside these codes, the spend drops to the base rate.

Everything else

Unlimited 2 IndiGo BluChips per ₹100 on all other eligible categories. On the RuPay variant, UPI-on-credit-card spends also earn 2 BluChips per ₹100, except in excluded MCCs. The Visa variant does not support UPI on credit card.

What that's actually worth

IndiGo does not publish a fixed rupee value for a BluChip — redemption value is at IndiGo's discretion. Independent estimates put it in the ₹0.40–₹0.60 range. At an indicative ₹0.50 per BluChip:

Four vouchers of 4,000 IndiGo BluChips each, totalling 16,000 BluChips per anniversary year:

Categories excluded from reward earning do not count toward milestone spends. That means rent, wallet loads, education, government payments, utilities, insurance, online skill-based gaming, B2B and fuel spends are all invisible to the milestone counter.

Spends are measured net of reversals. The T&C illustrates this: if you hit a milestone and a transaction is later reversed, the reversed amount is clawed back from your progress toward the next milestone, so you need that much more incremental spend to qualify. Vouchers are credited within 45 days from the end of the calendar month in which the milestone was achieved, and each is valid for 6 months from disbursal.

The counter resets every anniversary year. Kotak's own example: a card issued on 1 April 2025 that reaches ₹12 lakh by 31 March 2026 collects all four vouchers, and on 1 April 2026 the milestone tally returns to zero.

Other Benefits

Domestic lounge access. Two complimentary visits per calendar quarter, eight per year. There is no spend condition — Kotak's FAQ confirms no eligibility criterion applies, and the card is not on the list of Kotak variants that require quarterly spends to unlock lounge access. Only the primary cardholder is eligible. Access runs on Kotak's Set B lounge list, which covers 22 domestic lounges across Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Dabolim, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pernem and Pune. Entry requires a ₹2 validation swipe on the card. Once your free visits are exhausted, the lounge charges its own rate and informs you at the desk.

Renewal benefit. A voucher worth 4,000 IndiGo BluChips plus a 6E Eats voucher, every year, on payment of the annual fee within the due date. If the annual fee is waived, the renewal voucher is forfeited. Credited within 45 days of the payment due date of the statement carrying the fee; valid 6 months.

BluChip tier perks. Independent of the card, BluChip membership carries discounts on seat selection, excess baggage and Fast Forward — 10% at Blu 3, 20% at Blu 2 and 30% at Blu 1 — plus 20 and 40 6E Prime passes at Blu 2 and Blu 1 respectively.

No international lounge access, no insurance cover, no golf, no movie buy-one-get-one, and no fuel surcharge waiver are offered on this card.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn BluChips

The following categories earn nothing and do not count toward milestones:

• Wallet loads
• Education payments
• Government spends
• Utilities
• Insurance
• Online skill-based gaming
• B2B spends
• Fuel (per Kotak's June 2025 revised MCC list, which names the IndiGo Kotak cards)
• Group, corporate, SME and agent bookings on IndiGo
• IndiGo flights booked through third-party websites or apps

Several of these also attract a 1% transaction fee beyond a per-cycle threshold, so they cost you twice over.

Is the IndiGo Kotak Premium Credit Card Worth It?

The maths turns almost entirely on how much you fly IndiGo and whether you book direct. At an indicative ₹0.50 per BluChip, the welcome and renewal vouchers are worth around ₹2,000 each and the four milestone vouchers about ₹8,000 combined — so a cardholder who reaches ₹12 lakh of eligible annual spend recovers the ₹3,540 all-in fee comfortably, before counting the eight lounge visits. Someone flying ₹1.5 lakh of IndiGo tickets a year on the card is earning roughly ₹12,750 of BluChips on those bookings alone at the Blu 3 rate. For that profile the card is straightforwardly good.

It works far less well for anyone else. Outside IndiGo, dining and entertainment, everything earns 1% or nothing, and the exclusion list is long — utilities, insurance, education, rent and fuel are all dead spends that also fail to count toward milestones. The BluChips only convert into IndiGo flights and IndiGo add-ons, so there is no escape hatch if your travel plans change or IndiGo doesn't fly your route. There is no annual fee waiver at any spend level, the 3.5% forex markup rules out international use, and there is no international lounge access despite the premium positioning and fee. If you want travel value without airline lock-in, an airline-agnostic card is the better fit; if you are genuinely an IndiGo loyalist who books direct, this is one of the stronger co-brands in the market.

What happens if I was a 6E Rewards cardholder? 6E Rewards balances were converted to IndiGo BluChips with an 18% bonus by 3 October 2025. Upgrading to the IndiGo Kotak Premium card restarts your anniversary cycle, and a joining fee was levied for October 2025. Eligible migrating customers received a compensatory bonus of 700 BluChips (from a 6E Rewards card) or 1,500 BluChips (from a 6E Rewards XL card) on activating the new card within 30 days.
