Kotak BizEdge Credit Card Review 2026: 5X on Tax, Utility and Fuel, 55-Day Interest-Free Period & FA
The Kotak BizEdge inverts the category logic of almost every other Kotak card, and that is the whole reason to hold it. On most Kotak products, utility, insurance, government, tax and fuel spend earns nothing. Here those are the accelerated categories, earning 10 Reward Points per ₹150 — 1.67% — while ordinary retail spend earns 0.33%.
For a business paying GST, electricity bills, insurance premiums and fuel on a card, that is the right way round.
Kotak BizEdge Quick Overview

| **Joining / annual fee** | ₹999 + GST. Annual fee waived on **₹2 lakh** of spend within 12 months |
| **Network** | Visa and RuPay |
| **Top reward rate** | **1.67%** — 10 Reward Points per ₹150 |
| **Base reward rate** | 0.33% — 2 Reward Points per ₹150 |
| **Point value** | ₹0.25 on Kotak Unbox |
| **Interest-free period** | **Up to 55 days** — the longest on any Kotak card |
| **Points validity** | 36 months |
| **Cash withdrawal** | Not allowed |
The Three Accelerated Categories
All three earn 10 Reward Points per ₹150 — 1.67% at ₹0.25 a point.
1. Business essentials — cap 2,500 points a cycle
Kotak publishes the exact MCC list, which is unusual and welcome. Twenty-two codes:
| MCC | Description | MCC | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4900 | Utilities / electricity / gas / water | 5045 | Computers and peripherals |
| 5541 | Service stations | 4814 | Telecom services |
| 6300 | Insurance | 4215 | Courier services |
| 5542 | Automated fuel dispenser | 5817 | Digital goods — applications |
| 5732 | Electronics stores | 8999 | Professional services |
| 9399 | Government services | 5111 | Stationery and office supplies |
| 4812 | Telecom equipment | 4214 | Motor freight carriers |
| 9311 | **Tax payments** | 4816 | Computer network / info services |
| 7311 | Advertising services | 4121 | Taxicabs and limousines |
| 7399 | Business services | 5712 | Furniture and equipment stores |
| 5734 | Computer software stores | 6011 | Financial institution / auto cash |
The cap is the constraint: 2,500 Reward Points per statement cycle, which binds at ₹37,500 of business-essential spend. Past that in a cycle, these categories earn nothing at all.
For a business whose GST and utility payments are exactly what this category targets, ₹37,500 a month is a low ceiling. Plan around it.
(MCC 6011 appearing in an earning table is odd — it's ATM cash disbursement, and the same T&C says no cash withdrawal is allowed on the card. Transcribed as printed, but don't count on it.)
2. Flight and hotel bookings on Kotak Unbox
10 Reward Points per ₹150, sharing a 1,00,000-point cap with the SaaS category. That binds at roughly ₹15 lakh of combined spend and is effectively unreachable.
Booked anywhere other than Kotak Unbox, the same flight earns 0.33%.
3. SaaS purchases through Nuclei — Visa variant only
10 Reward Points per ₹150 on business software through Kotak's Nuclei partnership at kotakbank.gonuclei.com.
The rewards T&C states twice that Category 2 points are not available on the RuPay variant. A RuPay cardholder loses one of the card's three accelerated categories outright — worth knowing before you pick a network.
What a Point Is Worth
₹0.25 on Kotak Unbox, against flights, hotels, gifts and voucher purchases. Points may cover at most 80% of the cart value, with the remaining 20% on the card. Minimum 500 points.
No other channel is published.
Points expire 36 months from the date earned.
Where You Won't Earn — and Where You Can't Transact
Table B — excluded (no points): rent (6513), wallet load (6540), and the education block (8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299). Plus all EMI transactions — merchant EMI, transaction EMI and TC-code EMI.
Table C — blocked entirely. This is different and more restrictive: Kotak's heading reads "transactions are not allowed on such MCCs", under its end-use monitoring guidelines. Twenty-four codes:
Dating and escort services (7273), counselling (7277), child care (8351), camper trailer dealers (5561), veterinary services (0742), massage parlours (7297), video amusement game supply (7993), DVD and video rental (7841), dance halls and studios (7911), non-financial institutions including cryptocurrency (6051), political organisations (8651), wig and toupee stores (5698), pawn shops (5933), wrecking and salvage yards (5935), security brokers and dealers (6211), funeral services (7261), government lotteries (7800, 9406), online casinos (7801), horse and dog racing (7802), betting (7995), bail and bond payments (9223), intra-company purchases (9950) and guns and ammunition (5723).
These are transactions the card will decline, not transactions that earn zero. Note that 6211 (security brokers) and 6051 (crypto and forex) are blocked — relevant if your business touches either.
Fees and Charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹999 |
| Annual fee | ₹999 — waived on **₹2 lakh** of spend within 12 months |
| Add-on card | Not offered |
| Finance charges | 3.75% per month (45% per annum) |
| **Interest-free period** | **Up to 55 days** |
| **Minimum amount due** | 5% of all transactions + 100% of EMI, finance charges, fees and tax, minimum ₹100 |
| **Cash withdrawal** | **Not allowed** |
| Forex markup | 3.50% |
| **Over-limit** | **Not allowed** — transactions are declined, not charged |
| Late payment | Nil up to ₹100, rising in slabs to ₹1,200 above ₹50,000 |
| Cheque bounce | 2% of the bounced amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Auto-debit return | 2%, minimum ₹450, maximum ₹5,000 |
The 55-day interest-free period is the longest on any Kotak credit card. The rest of the range runs to 48 or 51 days. On a business card used to manage supplier payment timing, that extra week is worth real working capital.
A gap worth flagging: neither the card page nor the rewards T&C mentions a fuel surcharge waiver, and this card isn't in the Kotak retail MITC's eligibility list because it's issued under the corporate MITC. What makes that notable is that fuel is not excluded here — MCC 5541 and 5542 are in the accelerated table — so fuel earns 1.67% but is surcharged in full.
Similarly, the special-category fee regime that applies to Kotak's retail cards (1% on utility, fuel, wallet, education, gaming and rent above thresholds) does not appear on this card's fees schedule at all. Given that utility and fuel are the card's accelerated categories, confirm this with the bank before routing volume through it.
Worked Example
A business spending ₹8 lakh a year:
| Category | Annual spend | Points | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business essentials (capped at ₹37,500/month) | ₹4,50,000 | 30,000 | ₹7,500 |
| Unbox travel | ₹1,50,000 | 10,000 | ₹2,500 |
| Everything else | ₹2,00,000 | 2,666 | ₹667 |
| **Total** | **₹8,00,000** | **42,666** | **₹10,667** |
Against a ₹999 fee, waived at ₹2 lakh, that is a net 1.33%. Note the business-essentials line: ₹4.5 lakh a year is ₹37,500 a month, which is exactly the cap — spend more in any month and the excess earns nothing.

Take the BizEdge if your business spend is concentrated in tax, utilities, insurance, telecom, office supplies, freight or fuel — no other Kotak card pays you for those.
Take the Kotak Biz if you want lounge access and travel insurance at a third of the fee and your spend is more travel-led.
Take the Solitaire Business if you qualify — it's better on interest, forex, base rate and insurance, and costs nothing.
Who Should Get the Kotak BizEdge
Good fit if:
- Your business pays GST, advance tax, utility bills, telecom and insurance on a card
- You buy office supplies, electronics, computers, freight or courier services regularly
- You spend on SaaS — but take the Visa variant, not RuPay
- You use the interest-free period as working capital — 55 days is the longest available
- Your accelerated spend lands near ₹37,500 a month rather than far above it
Look elsewhere if:
- Your business-essential spend regularly exceeds ₹37,500 a month — the excess earns nothing
- You need cash withdrawal or lounge access — neither is available
- You want travel insurance — the Kotak Biz and Solitaire Business both carry seven covers; this one has none
- Your business touches security broking, crypto or any Table C category — those transactions are declined
