Kotak 811 Credit Card Review 2026: 2X Online, 3 Free PVR Tickets, Fees & FAQs
The Kotak 811 is a ₹500 card that pays 2 Reward Points per ₹100 online and 1 per ₹100 offline, adds a ₹75,000 milestone worth three free PVR tickets, and waives its annual fee at ₹50,000 of spend.
At ₹0.25 a point on the catalogue that's 0.5% online and 0.25% offline. The cash redemption rate, though, is where this card has a problem.
Quick Overview
| **Card type** | Entry shopping card |
|---|---|
| **Joining / annual fee** | ₹500 + GST. Annual fee waived on **₹50,000** in the previous anniversary year |
| **Add-on card** | ₹200 |
| **Network** | Visa and RuPay |
| **Online rate** | **0.5%** — 2 Reward Points per ₹100 |
| **Offline rate** | 0.25% — 1 Reward Point per ₹100 |
| **Point value** | ₹0.25 catalogue / **₹0.10 cash** |
| **Welcome** | 500 Reward Points (₹125) on ₹3,000 in 30 days |
| **Milestone** | **3 PVR tickets** on ₹75,000 in an anniversary year |
| **Lounge** | None |
The cash redemption problem
₹0.25 on the Kotak Rewards catalogue. ₹0.10 as cashback.
That cash rate fell from ₹0.25 to ₹0.10 on 1 June 2025 — a 60% haircut, the steepest cash reduction on any Kotak card.
What that does to the card:
| Catalogue (₹0.25) | Cash (₹0.10) | |
|---|---|---|
| Online spend | 0.50% | **0.20%** |
| Offline spend | 0.25% | **0.10%** |
At 0.10% on offline spend, taking cash is barely worth the paperwork. The catalogue is effectively the only sensible channel on this card, and if you don't want a catalogue redemption, the card's earn rate is close to meaningless.
Reward Structure
| Spend | Reward Points per ₹100 | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|
| **Online** | 2 | **0.5%** |
| Offline | 1 | **0.25%** |
| Excluded categories | 0 | 0% |
Neither is capped. The split is keyed on the channel — card-not-present — rather than on merchant category, so there's no MCC list to check.
Welcome Benefit
500 bonus Reward Points on spending ₹3,000 within the first 30 days of card issuance.
At ₹0.25 a point that's ₹125, not ₹500. Worth having, but it covers a quarter of the joining fee rather than the whole thing.
The PVR milestone
₹75,000 of eligible spend in the card anniversary year earns 3 complimentary PVR tickets.
How it works:
- Issued as a Star Pass code, redeemable for online booking at pvrcinemas.com
- Usable any day, any show, and transferable
- Must be claimed within 3 months of the anniversary year ending
- The anniversary year runs from issuance date to the next anniversary date; you can check your period in the Milestone tab of mobile or net banking
What are three PVR tickets worth? Kotak doesn't say for this card. The sibling Urbane Gold offers a straight choice — "4 free PVR tickets OR 10,000 reward points" — and 10,000 Urbane points at ₹0.10 is ₹1,000, so Kotak itself prices a ticket at ₹250. On that basis three tickets is ₹750, against a ₹500 fee that waives at ₹50,000 anyway.
What doesn't count towards the ₹75,000: from 1 June 2025, spend on utility, education, wallet loading, government, insurance, online skill-based gaming, fuel and rent. Only settled transactions count.
The June 2025 revision
| Category | Reward Points earned |
|---|---|
| Utility | Up to **₹35,000** per statement cycle |
| **Education, wallet loading, fuel, rent, government, insurance, online skill-based gaming** | **Nothing at any level** |
Seven categories zeroed, one capped — the same harsh shape Kotak applied to the League Platinum.
Fees and Charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining / annual fee | ₹500 + GST each — annual waived on **₹50,000** in the previous anniversary year |
| **Add-on card** | **₹200** |
| Finance charges | 3.75% per month (45% per annum) |
| Interest-free period | Up to 51 days |
| Cash advance fee | 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Forex markup | 3.50% |
| Late payment | Nil up to ₹100, rising in slabs to ₹1,300 above ₹50,000 |
| Over-limit | ₹500 |
| Rent payment fee | 1% + GST on MCC 6513 |
| Utility fee | 1% above ₹35,000 per statement cycle |
| Fuel fee | 1% above ₹25,000 per statement cycle |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on ₹500–₹4,000, capped at ₹3,500 an anniversary year |
| Railway surcharge waiver | 1.8% / 2.5%, capped at ₹500 a calendar year |
₹50,000 a year is ₹4,200 a month — easily cleared, and well below the ₹75,000 milestone threshold. If you're going to spend ₹50,000, it's worth knowing that ₹75,000 gets you three cinema tickets.
Both surcharge waivers apply.
No lounge access, domestic or international.
Worked Example
A cardholder spending ₹1 lakh of eligible spend in their first anniversary year, half of it online:
| Source | Spend | Points | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online at 2/₹100 | ₹50,000 | 1,000 | ₹250 |
| Offline at 1/₹100 | ₹50,000 | 500 | ₹125 |
| Welcome benefit | — | 500 | ₹125 |
| PVR milestone at ₹75,000 | — | 3 tickets | ₹750 |
| **Total (year one)** | **₹1,00,000** | — | **₹1,250** |
Fee waived at ₹50,000. That's a 1.25% return in year one, and 60% of it is the PVR milestone.
From year two the welcome benefit drops out and the return falls to about 1.1% — still almost entirely milestone-driven.
Take cash redemptions instead of the catalogue and the first two lines fall to ₹150, dropping the total to ₹1,025.
Kotak 811 vs the other entry cards
| Kotak 811 | League Platinum | Urbane Gold | UPI RuPay | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Joining / annual | ₹500 / ₹500 | ₹499 / ₹499 | Nil / ₹199 | **Nil / Nil** |
| Fee waiver | ₹50,000 | ₹50,000 | ₹15,000 | n/a |
| Rate | 0.5% online, 0.25% offline | 0.27–0.53% | 0.3% flat | 0.3% flat |
| Point value | **₹0.25** | ₹0.10 | ₹0.10 | ₹0.10 |
| Milestone | **3 PVR tickets** at ₹75k | None | 4 PVR tickets at ₹1 lakh | None |
| Cash rate | **₹0.10 (60% cut)** | ₹0.07 | ₹0.07 | ₹0.07 |
The 811's ₹0.25 catalogue value is the best of the four, so its online rate of 0.5% beats everything else here. Its cash rate is the worst relative to catalogue.
Who Should Get the Kotak 811 Credit Card
Good fit if:
- Most of your spending is online — the 0.5% online rate is the best among Kotak's entry cards
- You go to the cinema and will spend ₹75,000 a year in eligible categories for the three PVR tickets
- You'll redeem on the catalogue, not for cash
- You want a simple card with a fee waiver you'll clear at ₹4,200 a month
Look elsewhere if:
- You only ever take cash redemptions — 0.10% on offline spend is effectively nothing
- Your spend is concentrated in utilities, education, insurance, government, rent or fuel — all zeroed or tightly capped, and none of it counts towards the milestone
- You shop mostly in person — 0.25% is very low
- You want lounge access

Fees, rates and benefits verified against the Kotak 811 Credit Card product page, its fees-and-charges, milestone-program, eligibility, value-chart and rewards-redemption pages, Kotak's MCC schedule dated 1 May 2025 and the Kotak credit-card MITC, as at 23 September 2026.
