Is the ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver Credit Card Worth It?
The 400-point essentials cap is very tight. At 20 points per ₹100 it fills at ₹2,000 of daily-essential spend a month — ₹100 of value. Most households pass ₹2,000 in a single grocery trip, so the 5% headline applies to a very thin slice.
The fuel band caps at ₹200 a month, so the maximum combined accelerated benefit is about ₹300 a month — ₹3,600 a year against a ₹500 fee. Positive, but far from what '5%' suggests.
Fuel still earns on this card, which from 15 January 2026 is unusual — ICICI stopped paying on fuel across most of its range that day.
PAYBACK Points have no published rupee rate either, so the ₹0.25 used here is an inference on an inference.
Milestone and welcome benefits are released only after the fee has actually been paid — a waived fee forfeits them. Rent, government and education spends count toward neither the fee waiver nor the milestones.
