ICICI Emeralde Private Metal Review 2026: Points Caps, Unlimited Golf, Wide Exclusions & FAQs
ICICI Emeralde Private Metal charges ₹12,499 and earns 6 Reward Points per ₹200 — about 0.75% — with unlimited lounges and golf, but the widest exclusion list in the range. Caps, fees and FAQs.
The Emeralde Private Metal is ICICI's flagship: ₹12,499, unlimited lounge access, unlimited golf every month, and a welcome package including Taj Epicure Plus and EazyDiner Prime memberships.
It also carries the widest earning exclusion list in the ICICI range, and it caps rewards by a completely different mechanism from every other card the bank issues.

Reward Structure: How You Earn
ICICI does not publish what a Reward Point is worth. Not in its Most Important Terms, not in the card terms, and not on its own rewards page, which lists redemption categories without a single conversion rate. This review uses ₹0.25, the third-party consensus for statement-credit and catalogue redemption. Every percentage below therefore rests on a figure the bank itself will not state — treat them as indicative, not exact.
6 Reward Points per ₹200 on eligible retail spends — about 0.75%.
From 15 January 2026 fuel and e-wallet loads earn nothing on ICICI cards. The Parakram cards are the only exception on fuel; the Amazon Pay card the only exception on wallets. New fees arrived the same day: 1% on wallet loads of ₹5,000 or more, 2% on skill-based gaming, 1% on transportation above ₹50,000, and ₹3,500 one-time for every new add-on card.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| Everything else | 0.75% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
The caps that actually bind
Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:
| Cap | Limit |
|---|---|
| Grocery | 1,000 points per calendar month |
| Education | 1,000 points per calendar month |
| Insurance | 5,000 points per calendar month |
| Utility | 1,000 points per calendar month |
This card uses POINTS caps, not the spend ceilings the rest of the range uses — the opposite mechanism, and the single most common way to model it wrongly. Grocery, education and utility are each capped at 1,000 Reward Points a statement cycle, and insurance at 5,000. At 6 points per ₹200 the grocery cap binds at about ₹33,000 of spend.
The exclusion list is the widest in the ICICI range. From 15 January 2026 this card earns nothing at all on government services, fuel, rent, tax payments, third-party wallets and property management — the last covering maintenance, packers and movers, construction and property purchases.
The BookMyShow buy-one-get-one is now spend-gated — it requires ₹25,000 of spend in the previous calendar quarter, where it used to be unconditional. A new cardholder gets nothing in their first quarter.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
- Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel (MCC 1361, 3851, 5172, 5541, 5542, 5555, 5983, 9752 — the Parakram cards are exempt); e-wallet loads (MCC 6540 — the Amazon Pay card is exempt); cash advances; and, on the premium metal cards, government services, rent, tax payments and property management. Both fuel and wallet exclusions took effect on 15 January 2026.
- Point expiry: Reward Points are valid for 36 months from the date of accrual. Points LAPSE ENTIRELY on card cancellation, and a redemption handling fee of ₹99 plus GST applies to each redemption request.
- Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.
- Grocery cap: 1,000 REWARD POINTS per statement cycle on grocery — a POINTS cap, unlike the spend ceilings ICICI applies to the rest of its range. At 6 points per ₹200 it binds at about ₹33,000 of grocery spend a cycle.
- Education cap: 1,000 Reward Points per statement cycle on education payments.
- Insurance cap: 5,000 Reward Points per statement cycle on insurance — five times the grocery and utility allowance, and the most generous of the four category caps on this card.
- Utility cap: 1,000 Reward Points per statement cycle on utility payments.

Is the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card Worth It?
The lifestyle benefits are the entire case and they are substantial. Unlimited golf every month and unlimited lounge access, plus Taj Epicure Plus and EazyDiner Prime, comfortably exceed ₹12,499 for someone who would use them.
The 0.75% earn rate does not support the fee on its own — it is lower than the Emeralde's 1% at a higher price.
The exclusions bite hard for anyone with large recurring payments. Rent, fuel, tax and property management earning nothing is a wide net on a card aimed at high spenders, many of whom pay rent or maintenance on a card by choice.
The ₹3,500 add-on card fee from 15 January 2026 is a real new cost on a card marketed to families.
Milestone and welcome benefits are released only after the fee has actually been paid. If your annual fee is waived, you forfeit them. Rent, government and education spends also do not count toward either the fee waiver or the milestones.
