Swiggy HDFC Bank ORNGE Credit Card Review 2026: 5% Swiggy Cashback, Caps & FAQs
Swiggy HDFC Bank ORNGE Credit Card pays 5% cashback inside the Swiggy app and 5% on online spends, on a 1% base. Capped at ₹1,500 a month per band and ₹2,500 a cycle overall. Fees and FAQs.
The ORNGE variant pays 5% inside the Swiggy app — half the mainline card — plus 5% on online spending and a 1% base. Its whole-card cashback ceiling is also lower at ₹2,500 a cycle.
Cashback is credited directly, so every percentage here is a true cashback figure with no point valuation to translate.

Reward Structure: How You Earn
The card earns direct cashback, not points.
5% on the Swiggy app — food ordering, Instamart, Dineout and Genie. 5% on online spends at eligible merchants. 1% on everything else.
This card was unaffected by HDFC's 15 May 2026 rate change, which applied to the Reward Point cards only. The cashback and co-brand cards were left alone.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| Swiggy app — food ordering, Instamart, Dineout and Genie (capped at 1,500 points a month) | **5.0%** |
| Online spends across eligible merchants (capped at 1,500 points a month) | **5.0%** |
| Everything else | 1.0% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
The caps that actually bind
Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:
| Cap | Limit |
|---|---|
| Swiggy | 1,500 points per calendar month |
| Online | 1,500 points per calendar month |
| Card | 2,500 points per calendar month |
Three caps operate at once and they nest. The Swiggy band is capped at ₹1,500 a month. Online spending is capped at ₹1,500 a month. And the whole card is capped by HDFC's Fair Usage Policy at a total cashback ceiling per statement cycle, which differs by variant.
The practical effect: you cannot fill the Swiggy maximum and the online maximum and expect both to land in full if together they would breach the card ceiling.
On this variant the whole-card ceiling is ₹2,500 of cashback per statement cycle.
Worked example
₹40,000 a month with heavy Swiggy use.
| Category | Monthly spend | Rate | Cashback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swiggy app | ₹15,000 | 5% | ₹750 |
| Online spends, within the cap | ₹20,000 | 5% | ₹1,000 |
| Other retail | ₹5,000 | 1% | ₹50 |
| **Monthly total** | **₹40,000** | **₹1,800** |
At 5% the Swiggy band is only half-full — it would take ₹30,000 of app spending a month to reach the ₹1,500 cap, which is the clearest illustration of what the lower rate costs. The whole-card ceiling is ₹2,500 a statement cycle, and this pattern sits inside it.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
- Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; EasyEMI and e-wallet loading; rent, property management, maintenance and packers-and-movers; government transactions; education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq or MobiKwik (paying a college or school directly still earns); and online skill-based gaming. Points are also REVERSED if a retail transaction is later converted to SmartEMI.
- Point expiry: Swiggy Money expires 1 year after the cashback is earned.
- Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.
- Swiggy cap: ₹1,500 of cashback per billing cycle on the 5% Swiggy band, binding at ₹30,000 of Swiggy spend.
- Online cap: ₹1,500 of cashback per billing cycle on the 5% online band, binding at ₹30,000 of eligible online spend.
- Card cap: ₹2,500 of cashback per statement cycle across the WHOLE CARD — HDFC's Fair Usage ceiling for this card. It is lower than the two band caps added together, so the bands cannot both be maxed.

Is the Swiggy Ornge HDFC Bank Credit Card Worth It?
ORNGE is the weaker Swiggy card and the comparison is not close. Same ₹500 fee, half the Swiggy rate, and a lower overall ceiling. Its only advantage is a ₹1.5 lakh reversal threshold against ₹2 lakh. If HDFC will issue you the mainline Swiggy card, take that instead.
The ₹1,500 monthly band caps are the number to plan around. At 5% the Swiggy band fills at ₹30,000 of app spending a month; past that Swiggy spending drops to the 1% base too.
Cashback is credited as statement cashback or Swiggy Money depending on the variant and the band. Swiggy Money spends only inside the Swiggy app — nominally 1:1 with rupees, but worth strictly less than cash to anyone who would rather spend it elsewhere.
There is no lounge access and no travel benefit. This is a single-purpose card and should be judged only on food delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the Swiggy cashback rate on Swiggy HDFC Bank ORNGE Credit Card? 5% on everything inside the Swiggy app — food ordering, Instamart, Dineout and Genie — capped at ₹1,500 a calendar month.
What is the online cashback rate? 5% on online spends at eligible merchants, capped separately at ₹1,500 a calendar month.
Is there an overall cap? Yes. HDFC's Fair Usage Policy caps this variant at ₹2,500 of cashback per statement cycle across the whole card.
How is the cashback paid? As statement cashback or as Swiggy Money depending on the variant and band. Swiggy Money is spendable only within the Swiggy app, so it is worth less than cash if you would rather not spend it there.
Which Swiggy card is best? BLCK on paper — lifetime free, 10% on Swiggy, and a ₹4,000 cycle ceiling — but access is tied to Swiggy's membership tier. The mainline Swiggy card is the realistic best choice for most people; ORNGE is the weakest at the same fee.
What does it not earn on? Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government payments, third-party education apps and online gaming earn nothing, and rewards are reversed if a purchase is converted to SmartEMI.
