HDFC Superia is a legacy mid-tier card earning 3 Reward Points per ₹200 — about 0.3% — with a 50% uplift on dining at select premium restaurants.

Its one genuinely distinctive feature is the AirMile conversion: 1 Reward Point converts to 0.7 AirMiles, the best ratio in HDFC's legacy range and materially better than the rupee redemption.

Reward Structure: How You Earn

The card earns 3 Reward Points per ₹200 — 0.3% at the ₹0.20 rupee rate.

Dining at select premium restaurants earns 50% more — 4.5 points per ₹200.

HDFC moved this card from ₹150 to ₹200 earning blocks on 15 May 2026 — a real 25% cut to accrual with no change to what a point is worth. Any page still quoting a ₹150 basis is out of date.

The point valuation here is an estimate, not an issuer figure. HDFC publishes no redemption table for this card. This dataset uses ₹0.20, anchored on the only two legacy HDFC cards that do publish one — Solitaire at 100 points = ₹20 and Titanium Edge at 100 points = ₹10. The observed range is therefore ₹0.10 to ₹0.20, and ₹0.10 is a live possibility for this card too. If it applies, every percentage below is double what it should be.

The AirMile channel is where this card is interesting. At 0.7 AirMiles per Reward Point, a frequent flyer who redeems miles well can beat the ₹0.20 rupee rate substantially. An air mile is a separate currency and this dataset does not value it in rupees — the 0.3% figure above reflects the cashback channel only, and understates the card for anyone who actually flies.

Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn

  • Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; EasyEMI and e-wallet loading; rent, property management, maintenance and packers-and-movers; government transactions; education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq or MobiKwik (paying a college or school directly still earns); and online skill-based gaming. Points are also REVERSED if a retail transaction is later converted to SmartEMI.
  • Point expiry: Reward Points are valid for 24 months from accrual and lapse thereafter — HDFC states 'Unredeemed Reward Points will expire/lapse after 2 years of accumulation'.
  • Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.

Is the HDFC Bank Superia Credit Card Worth It?

On rupee redemption this is a 0.3% card and not worth holding. ₹50,000 a month returns ₹150.

On the AirMile channel it is more defensible. 0.7 miles per point is the best legacy ratio HDFC publishes, and if you redeem miles at good value it can comfortably exceed the rupee rate. Whether it beats a modern 1% cashback card depends entirely on how well you redeem.

1,000 Reward Points arrive as a welcome benefit and 1,000 more on each renewal — about ₹250 a year at the rupee rate, which covers a quarter of the ₹1,000 fee.

The ₹75,000 fee reversal is easy to clear, which is the main reason holding it costs little.

Two things apply across HDFC's whole legacy range and both work against these cards. The first is the May 2026 block change, which cut accrual by a quarter. The second is that the point valuation is unpublished, so the real return could be half what is stated here.

Anyone choosing a new HDFC card should look at the current range instead. PIXEL Go at ₹250 pays a flat 1% in CashPoints worth ₹1 each — several times what any legacy card returns, with no valuation guesswork.

HDFC's Fair Usage Policy caps the legacy range at 15,000 Reward Points earned per statement cycle.
