HDFC Diners Club Premium Review 2026: 1% Base Rate, Fees, Caps & FAQs
HDFC Diners Club Premium earns 4 Reward Points per ₹200 at ₹0.50 — 1% — after the May 2026 change. Lounge access, fees, what HDFC does not publish, and FAQs.
HDFC Diners Club Premium sits in the middle of HDFC's Diners Club range and earns 4 Reward Points per ₹200 at ₹0.50 a point — a 1% base rate. It is a straightforward card without a signature accelerated band, which makes the fee waiver question unusually important — and HDFC does not answer it.

Reward Structure: How You Earn
The card earns 4 Reward Points per ₹200 — 1% at the ₹0.50 SmartBuy travel rate. This rate is confirmed by HDFC's 15 May 2026 mailer.
HDFC moved this card from ₹150 to ₹200 earning blocks on 15 May 2026 — a 25% cut to accrual with no change to point value. Sources still quoting a ₹150 basis are out of date.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| Everything else | 1.0% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
HDFC publishes no fee waiver threshold for this card. Every comparable card in the range states one — Regalia Gold at ₹4 lakh, Diners Black at ₹8 lakh. Its absence here is not evidence that no waiver exists; it means the figure is not published anywhere reviewed. Ask HDFC directly before applying, because on a card with a 1% base rate the fee waiver is a large share of the total value.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
- Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; EasyEMI and e-wallet loading; rent, property management, maintenance and packers-and-movers; government transactions; education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq or MobiKwik (paying a college or school directly still earns); and online skill-based gaming. Points are also REVERSED if a retail transaction is later converted to SmartEMI.
- Point expiry: Reward Points are valid for 24 months from accrual and lapse thereafter — HDFC states 'Unredeemed Reward Points will expire/lapse after 2 years of accumulation'.
- Redemption fee: ₹99 per redemption.

Is the HDFC Bank Diners Club Premium Credit Card Worth It?
The unpublished fee waiver is the deciding factor and you cannot look it up. At a 1% base rate with no signature accelerated band, whether this card is worth holding turns almost entirely on whether your spending clears a threshold nobody will tell you.
On rewards alone it is unremarkable. 1% is the market median. Diners Club Privilege earns the same base but adds 5% on food delivery for a comparable position in the range.
Diners acceptance applies here as to every Diners card — thinner than Visa or Mastercard outside metros.
Fair Usage caps earning at 50,000 Reward Points per statement cycle.
