Reward Structure: How You Earn
Cashback is credited in rupees, so every percentage here is a true percentage with no point valuation to translate. That is the main advantage of a cashback card over a points card at the same headline rate.
5% on eligible online spends. 0.75% on everything else, uncapped.
| Spend | Effective rate |
|---|---|
| Online spends (capped at 4,000 points a month) | **5.0%** |
| Everything else | 0.75% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government, gaming | **0%** |
The caps that actually bind
Headline rates mean little until you know where they stop. These are the limits on this card:
| Cap | Limit |
|---|---|
| Accel | 4,000 points per calendar month |
The ₹4,000 cap is combined across accelerated bands, not per band. Axis's own worked example breaks it into ₹100 + ₹1,750 + ₹2,150, which is how the structure is confirmed. Once the combined cap is reached, every accelerated category falls to 0.75% for the rest of the month.
At 5%, filling ₹4,000 of cashback takes ₹80,000 of online spend a month.
Category Restrictions: Where You Won't Earn
- Where you earn nothing: Earns nothing at all: fuel; rent (MCC 6513); wallet loads (MCC 6540); government institution transactions (MCC 9222, 9311, 9399, 9402); cash withdrawals; EMI conversions; gift card purchases and toll, bridge and road fees (both excluded w.e.f. 28 August 2026); and fees, charges, GST and reversals. Insurance, utilities, telecom, education and jewellery are excluded on some cards only — the per-card notes say which.
- Point expiry: EDGE Reward Points and EDGE Miles expire 36 months from the date of accrual unless the card's own terms say otherwise. Points are forfeited if the card is closed, and a NEGATIVE point balance at closure is converted to a statement debit the cardholder must pay.
- Accel cap: Axis's own worked example gives the total accelerated cashback cap as ₹4,000 a month ('INR 100 + INR 1,750 + INR 2,150'). It is a COMBINED cap across the accelerated bands, not one per band. The 0.75% base rate continues uncapped underneath it.

Is the Axis Bank Cashback Credit Card Worth It?
The comparison with ACE decides this card. ACE costs ₹499 and pays an uncapped 1.5%; this card costs ₹1,000 and pays 0.75% outside its accelerated bands — half the base rate for twice the fee.
It only wins if you fill the ₹4,000 cap. ₹80,000 a month of online spending earns ₹4,000 here against ₹1,200 on ACE. Below about ₹30,000 a month online, ACE is ahead on the base rate alone.
The ₹4 lakh fee waiver is achievable for anyone spending at that level.
The ₹199 redemption fee is waived, though on a pure cashback card that matters less than on the EDGE range.
